Marine de Soos Exhibits in the Gardens of the Ernest Cognacq Museum
Until September 30, the artist is presenting eight of her works in Saint-Martin-de-Ré—an invitation to travel and to reverie.
Marine de Soos’s sculptures have found their place quite naturally in the gardens of the Ernest Cognacq Museum, as if this green setting had been waiting for them all along.
Both graceful and imposing—one weighs more than 400 kg—the eight bronze sculptures immediately resonate with the poetry of the site. Always in motion, their vibrations invite wisdom and travel. Le Pousseur de Lune, in particular, calls us back to childhood. These sculptures, however, will remain in the gardens only for the duration of the summer.
Inspirations from Africa and the Orient
A renowned Parisian artist who knows the Île de Ré well, Marine de Soos draws part of her inspiration from her childhood in Africa and from her many travels in the Orient. The movements she freezes in bronze convey universal emotions. In addition to the eight sculptures installed in the gardens of the Ernest Cognacq Museum, Marine de Soos is also currently presenting some more intimate pieces at Galerie Glineur, rue du Sully in Saint-Martin.
The exhibition poster at the museum features the monumental bronze sculpture installed at the center of the garden, delightfully titled Grand Cantique des Pilotis. This summer, the gardens will once again be a place of calm and serenity, far from the bustle of the harbor.
