Contemporary Art in La Possonnière
After presenting contemporary works in its artists’ residence and in the 11th-century church in Artins, Galerie HEGOA, in partnership with the Belgian gallery-house Art’n Pepper and in collaboration with Territoires Vendômois, presents in June works by internationally renowned visual artists and sculptors at Ronsard.
At the entrance to the Manor, an elegant sentinel stands watch, formed by the two black, slender bronze Silhouettes by Laurence Bonnel. Facing them, seated in the grass, Marine de Soos’s sculpture Palabres seems to welcome visitors with serenity and invites them to discover the vast esplanade bordered by troglodyte cellars carved into the tuffeau stone.
Beyond the porch, the garden and rose garden open up, where Marine de Soos’s Grand flûtiste guides us along the paths and through the groves. Turning a corner, the great Pêcheur Badjo, from the height of his bamboo stilts, seems to be fishing for one of the roses that would gladly be picked. A few steps away, the Pousseur de lune draws us into his play and his childlike reveries, feet in the grass.
At the back of the garden, at the crossroads of several paths, Wood, the great stag by Sylvie Mangaud, suddenly appears—full of finesse and lightness—perched on his long, stretched legs, the signature of this artist.
These works integrate so seamlessly into the garden setting that it seems as though they have always been there. The Manor, having boldly embraced modernity within a Renaissance style, continues its vocation as a vector of contemporary art.
