LE TOUQUET

Works by painter Arthur Van Hecke and sculptor Marine de Soos on exhibition

A very well-attended opening took place on Saturday evening at Galerie Emeraude, featuring the paintings of Van Hecke and the sculptures of Marine de Soos.
Guylaine Fry presented a retrospective of painter Van Hecke through a hanging that allows viewers to discover his immense talent. With this exhibition retracing the different pictorial periods of his life, one can admire his seascapes as well as his portraits, landscapes, and still lifes.

Arthur Van Hecke began painting in 1946, quickly encouraged by amateurs and major collectors from northern France. His work, like that of many painters from this region, is often tinged with Flemish expressionism, with a rich sense of material and light.

But the event also featured the presentation of the magnificent bronzes by the young sculptor Marine de Soos. One can admire the influence of her childhood spent in Djibouti with her Caravanes de Rêve, as in the splendid Vaisseau du Désert; or her moments of life with, among others, the Joueur de flûte. She reinvents plant life, animal life, and the human figure to convey a striking symbolism.

Exhibition until January 3 at Galerie Emeraude, 49 rue de Paris, from Friday to Monday, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
